About these terms

Tarteel Video is made by Codesaz. These terms apply when you use the Tarteel Video app or tarteel.video. By using the app, you agree to them. How the app handles your data is explained on our Privacy page.

The free version

Videos you make with the free version may be used, shown and shared by Tarteel Video (Codesaz) on our platforms and channels: the app, our websites and our social media accounts, including to promote the app.

We credit the reciter when we know who it is, and we never sell your videos to anyone. Want a video taken down? Ask us at any time through Report a problem or on WhatsApp, and we’ll remove it.

Videos made with the free version carry a small Tarteel Video watermark. With the paid plan (coming soon), your videos stay private: we don’t use or share them.

How you agree, and how to withdraw

Before you first save, share or publish a video, the app asks you to tick the free-version agreement; you can also agree in Settings, under About, then Free version terms. You agree once, for every project on that phone.

When you agree, the app records on your phone the date and time, the app version, the version of these free-version terms, and which wording you ticked. If usage statistics are on, it also sends an anonymous event saying the terms were accepted, and which version (see the Privacy page). If the free-version terms change, their version goes up and the app asks you again.

To withdraw, open Settings, then About, then Free version terms, and tap Withdraw agreement, or untick the agreement on the finished video’s screen. The app keeps a record of the agreement and of when you withdrew it on your phone, and asks you again before you save, share or publish another video. Withdrawing doesn’t remove videos that were already shared; to have one taken down, ask us as described above.

Acceptable use

Use Tarteel Video to make videos worthy of the Holy Quran. Do not use it to:

• change or distort the Quran text, or present a recitation as someone else’s;
• make or share content that is unlawful, spreads hatred, or mocks the Quran or other people;
• use recordings, images or other material you have no right to use;
• remove or hide the Tarteel Video watermark on videos made with the free version;
• misuse our servers: flood them with requests, get around their limits, or try to reach what is not meant for you.

Quran text, fonts and recitations

The Quran text, Mushaf scripts, translations and fonts in the app come from several sources, each under its own licence or terms: open-source projects such as DigitalKhatt, Amiri and Noto; and the King Fahd Complex’s Madinah Mushaf fonts and the translations, both served by quran.com. To see the open-source credits in the app, open Settings, press and hold the version number at the bottom, then open Version & licences.

Recitations belong to their reciters and to whoever recorded them, not to Tarteel Video or to you. The reciter library plays recordings from third-party Quran audio services such as quran.com; their owners’ and those services’ terms apply, and some recordings may not be used commercially. We credit the reciter when we know who it is.

The ending of videos made with the free version includes Al-Muzzammil 73:4 recited by Sheikh Ramadan Shakoor (may Allah have mercy on him), with his name on screen.

Your recitations and content

You are responsible for what you put into the app: recitations you import from a file or a link, or share into it, and any text or account names you add. Only use material you made yourself or have the right to use, and follow the terms of the site you got it from.

Your recitations are processed on your phone. Apart from the permission the free version gives us, we claim no ownership of your videos.

Publishing with Botsaz (optional)

You can send a finished video to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and more through Botsaz, a Codesaz service. It is optional: you don’t need to sign in until you publish (or you can connect it in Settings), and you can save or share a video without it.

Botsaz and each platform you publish to have their own terms, which apply to that use. You are responsible for what you publish on your accounts.

Updates and availability

We keep working on the app, so features can change or be removed. Some updates are required: an old version may ask you to update before you keep using it. We try to keep the app and our servers working, but we can’t promise they always will.

No warranty, and our liability

The app is provided as it is. Ayah recognition and word timing are automatic and can make mistakes, so check the ayahs, captions and translations in your video before you publish it.

As far as the law allows, Codesaz is not liable for indirect loss, lost data, or loss caused by how you or others use your videos. Nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law gives you and that cannot be waived.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If the free-version terms change, the app asks you to agree again before you save, share or publish a video.
